LEGAL NAME CHANGE

The New Jersey Statutes and the New Jersey Court Rules have set up a detailed procedure for someone to legally change one’s first name, last name or both. The involvement of the court system is necessary.

There are document requirements, pleadings and affidavits to be filed, and publication requirements. If you have an experienced attorney, you can have a name change approved by the court with only one court appearance.
